【摘要】:Thisdocumentspecifiesarecommendedprocedureforthedevelopmentofspecificationsforapplicationsofdigitalpostagemarks(DPMs)-i.e.applicationslinkedtotheuseofdigitalprintingandimagedatacapturetechnologiesinthepostalindustry,mostparticularlyfortheevidencingofpostageaccountingand/orpayment.Itisnotintendedtoprescribeortorecommendanyparticulararchitectureordesignforsuchapplications,onlytospecifytheprocessthroughwhichsuchanarchitectureordesignshouldbedeveloped.NOTE1Forthisreason,thestandardincludesbothnormativeandinformativecontent.Clauses1to5andAnnexAarenormative,whilsttheremainingannexesareinformative.Non-normative(informative)clausesareindicatedassuchintheheading.Theprocessdescribedisbasedonacyclicmodel,involvingbusinessplanning;systemsanalysis;securityanalysisanddetailedDPMdesign.ThedefinedprocessisarecommendedoneonlyandDPMapplicationsdesignersarenotobligatedtofollowit.However,itsuseisintendedtoensureboththatallrelevantaspectsaretakenintoaccountinthedesignprocessandthattheresultingspecificationshaveadegreeofcommonalityofstructurewhichmakethemcomparablewithsimilarspecificationsproducedbyotherparties.Itishopedthatthiswillmakethemmoreeasilyintelligible,andlessopentoambiguity,forimplementers.Itisassumedthatusersofthestandardarefamiliarwithnormalprocessesinvolvedinthedesignofcomputer-basedapplicationsandthestandardthereforelimitsitselftoaspectswhicharespecifictoDPMapplicationsdesign.Inparticular,thedocumentcoversonlyrequirementsandconsiderationsrelatingtoapplicationsthatusedigitalpostagemarks,onindividualpostalitems,asameansofcommunicatingdata(messages).Theclauseondesigncoversonlythedesignofthedigitalpostagemarksthemselves.Itdoesnotcoverotheraspectsofdesign,includingthepossibleuseofothermessages,transportedbyothermeans(e.g.statementsofmailing),toprovideforthecommunicationofadditionaldata,eventhoughthesemightbejustasimportant.Thestandardassumes,butdoesnotrequire,thatitisdesiredtoimplementdigitalpostagemarkswhichconformtoUPUstandardsS27,S28andS25(seeBibliography)andprovidesaguidetotheuseofthesestandards.However,manyoftheguidelines,recommendationsandchecklistswouldapplyequallytothedesignofDPMapplicationsusingdigitalpostagemarksbasedonsymbologiesotherthanthosesupportedbyS28,orrequiringdatawhichcannotbeaccommodatedwithinS25-defineddataconstructs.NOTE2ThoughS28[7]appliesonlytorepresentationusingtwo-dimensionalsymbologiesandrestrictsitsscopetotwoofthese:DataMatrixandPDF417,itsextensiontoothersymbologies,includinglinearbarcodesandOCRrepresentationofdata,isopentoconsideration.UserswhofindthattheirrequirementscannotbemetwithinthedefinedconstraintsarethereforeencouragedtocontacttheSecretariatoftheUPUStandardsBoard,withaviewtoexploringpossibleextensionofthestandard.NOTE3ThoughS25[5]definesaninitialsetofdataconstructs,itisintendedtoextendthissetonanas-neededbasis.UserswhofindthattheirrequirementscannotbemetbyexistingdatadefinitionsarethereforeencouragedtocontacttheSecretariatoftheUPUStandardsBoard,withaviewtoextensionofthestandard.
