【摘要】:Thisguidedescribesfactorstobeconsideredbyaninvestigatordesigningasamplingprogramtocomparetheasbestosdustloadingsintwoenvironmentsandpresentsstatisticalmethodsformakingthecomparison.Eachuserisresponsibleforthedesignofaninvestigationandtheinterpretationofdatacollectedwhenusingdustdata.Thisguidedoesnotdealwithsituationswheredustsofdifferentcompositionsorfromdifferentsurfacesaretobeevaluated.ThisguidedescribesmethodsforinterpretingtheresultsofsamplingandanalysisperformedinaccordancewithTestMethodsD5755,D5756,andD6480.ItmaybeappropriatetousetheproceduresinthisGuidewithotherdustcollectionandanalysismethods,butitistheresponsibilityoftheusertomakethisdetermination.Themethodsdescribedinthisguidearenotintendedtobeusedalone.Theyareintendedtobeusedalongwithvariousevaluationmethodsthatmayincludeconsiderationofbuildinguse,activitieswithinthebuilding,airsampling,asbestossurveys(refertoPracticeE2356),evaluationofbuildinghistoryandstudyofbuildingventilationsystems.Thisguidedescribesmethodsforcomparingenvironmentsanddoesnotdrawanyconclusionsrelatingasbestossurfaceloadingstothepotentialsafetyorhabitabilityofbuildings.Thisguidedoesnotaddressriskassessmentsortheuseofdustsamplinginriskassessment.Healthbasedriskassessmentsarebeyondthescopeofthisguide.Warning8212;Asbestosfibersareacknowledgedcarcinogens.Breathingasbestosfiberscanresultindiseaseofthelungsincludingasbestosis,lungcancer,andmesothelioma.Precautionsshouldbetakentoavoidcreatingandbreathingairborneasbestosparticleswhensamplingandanalyzingmaterialssuspectedofcontainingasbestos.RegulatoryrequirementsaddressingasbestosaredefinedbyUSEPA4,5andOSHA6.1.1Therearemultiplepurposesfordeterminingtheloadingofasbestosindustonsurfaces.Eachparticularpurposemayrequireuniquesamplingstrategies,analyticalmethods,andproceduresfordatainterpretation.Proceduresareprovidedtofacilitateapplicationofavailablemethodsfordeterminingasbestossurfaceloadingsand/orasbestosloadingsinsurfacedustforcomparisonbetweentwoenvironments.Atpresent,thisguideaddressesoneapplicationoftheASTMsurfacedustmethods.Itisanticipatedthatadditionalareaswillbeaddedinthefuture.Itisnotintendedthatthediscussionofoneapplicationshouldlimituseofthemethodsinotherareas.1.2Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.Forspecificwarningstatements,see5.7.
